Final Report

The Committee met for a final time on Dec 19, 2022 to make criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, referrals for censure and ethics violations by five fellow U.S. Representatives, and approve its final report and findings.

Report 1: Coordinating the Attack

Report shows evidence that the January 6th Capitol Riot was a coordinated attack against law enforcement and democracy. Rioters and strategists asked Donald Trump for pardons immediately after the attack. 

 

Includes testimony from Capitol Police officer, Caroline Edwards; and Nick Quested, filmmaker following Proud Boys at time of attack. 

Report 2: Trump Pushes Election Fraud Against Advice from Top Advisors

The Committee showed new testimony from top White House advisors who knew there was no voter fraud and told Trump he had lost the election. Trump proceeded to push election fraud narratives and fundraise to support his hunt.

Includes testimony from Byung J. "BJay" Pak, the Trump-appointed former U.S. attorney in Atlanta;  Al Schmidt, former Philadelphia city commissioner, who defended his state's electoral process in 2020; Chris Stirewalt, former Fox News executive, who called Arizona for Biden in 2020; and a statement from Bill Stepien, former Trump campaign manager, after a family emergency kept him from the hearing.   

Report 3: Trump Pressured VP Pence to Violate Constitution

Witnesses testified that Trump pressured Pence to overturn the election despite him and top White House advisors knowing the vice president had no power to change the results.

Includes testimony from Michael Luttig, conservative attorney and former judge; Greg Jacob, former Mike Pence general counsel; and Marc Short, former Mike Pence chief of staff.

Report 4: How Trump's Fraud Campaign Impacted Local Election Workers

Trump’s pressure campaign to find fraud caused state election officers and local election workers to face harassment and threats from Trump supporters.

Includes testimony from Wandrea "Shaye" Moss, former Georgia election worker; Brad Raffensperger, Georgia's secretary of state;  Gabriel Sterling, Georgia state election official; and Rusty Bowers, Arizona Speaker of the House. 

Report 5: Trump's Plan to Pressure the DOJ to Overturn Election

Report detailed President Donald Trump’s plan to have senior officials at the Department of Justice (DOJ) overturn election results in his favor. He was willing to fire people and replace them with ones who were willing to break their oaths to do his bidding. 

 

Includes testimony from Richard Donoghue, former Department of Justice official; Steve Engel, former Department of Justice attorney; and Jeff Rosen, former acting attorney general.  

Report 6: Trump Encouraged Rioters to Storm the Capitol—Then Did Nothing to Stop the Violence

Trump ad-libbed violent lines in his Stop the Steal Rally speech, telling his supporters to march on the Capitol. Later, Trump knew the "protest" at the Capitol had turned into a violent riot, and intentionally delayed taking action to stop it. 

 

Includes testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson, former Trump White House aide. There was an attempt to intimidate her witness. 

Report 7: Refusing to Concede

Trump's top lawyers advised him to concede the election. Instead, Trump chose to call on his supporters, many of them militia, to storm the Capitol.

Includes testimony from Pat Cipollone, former White House counsel; Steven Ayres, convicted January 6th rioter; and Jason Van Tatenhove, former member of the Oath Keepers. 

Report 8: Trump Refused to Stop the Violence or Calls for Pence's Life

Report shows that Trump did nothing to stop the Capitol attack but instead “gleefully” watched on television at the White House while Mike Pence's team feared for their lives in a Capitol bunker.

Includes testimony from Matthew Pottinger, a former National Security Council official; and Sarah Matthews, former Trump White House deputy press secretary. 

Report 9: Trump Knew He Lost

Report shows that President Trump pushing to overturn the 2020 election even after privately admitting that he lost the election.
